About Us

The Indiana Forage Council (IFC) is dedicated to research and education for profitable forage production and utilization. IFC was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1966 and is an affiliate member of the American Forage and Grassland Council.

The Council promotes forage production, management, utilization and marketing; research into various forage applications in production agriculture; communication of current forage research and results to forage growers; and new or expanded markets for forages.

Led by a Board of Directors, its members are individuals or county/area forage councils, youth, agribusiness, trade association and professional society representatives.

As an affiliate member of the American Forage and Grassland Council (AFGC), the IFC provides membership in both IFC and the AFGC. The AFGC’s primary objective is to promote the profitable production and sustainable utilization of quality forage and grasslands. The national organization aspires to be the “leader and voice of economically and environmentally sound forage-focused agriculture.”

The AFGC is made up of 22 affiliate councils in the United States and Canada with total membership of about 2,500.

The IFC strives to lead the forage industry in Indiana and provide opportunities for its members to share ideas, improve forage operations, and connect producers, industry representatives, youth, and local organizations for betterment of the forage and grassland sector.
